The Yanco Creek System
The Yanco Creek System (YCS) encompasses the Yanco, Colombo and Forest creeks, together with the regulated section of Billabong Creek downstream of Cocketgedong. The system begins where Yanco Creek diverges from the Murrumbidgee River and extends westward through an interconnected network of waterways until Billabong Creek joins the Edward River. As a major anabranch of the Murrumbidgee River, the Yanco Creek System provides a vital hydrological connection between the Murrumbidgee and Murray river systems, supporting irrigation, environmental water delivery, floodplain ecosystems and regional communities across the southern Riverina.
