Part of the NSW Government’s Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) Acceleration Program, the Yanco Creek Modernisation Project aims to modernise infrastructure to enable smarter use of water in the Yanco Creek system – including Yanco, Billabong, Colombo and Forest creeks.
The Yanco Creek Modernisation Project is a major water infrastructure initiative designed to improve the efficiency, reliability and long-term sustainability of the Yanco Creek System. It forms part of the NSW Government's Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) Acceleration Program.
The modernisation project focuses on upgrading the way water is managed and delivered throughout the system. Planned improvements include modern monitoring technology, automated control structures, alternative water delivery arrangements and revised operating rules.
These improvements are expected to support irrigated agriculture, strengthen environmental outcomes and enhance the resilience of communities that depend on the Yanco Creek System.
Overall, the Yanco Creek Modernisation Project represents a significant investment in the future of one of the Riverina's most important water systems, ensuring it continues to support productive agriculture, healthy ecosystems and local communities for generations to come.
